"Time to train,...and to afford to rest!" 

The board in TEAM HAUGLI has had a lot of questions lately about helping Maren and Sverre reaching their goal.

The possibility we see now is to help them financially, or to quote the living speedskating legend Knut "Kupper'n" Johannesen "To afford to rest".

At the NSF website we can read that Maren and Sverre has not been selected for the national team this coming season, this means they are not getting any financial support from the Speedskating association. As we know it was their own decision last season to stay outside the National team in order to be able to follow a different training plan with their own coaches. The result of this was that this past season Maren ended up being the best female speedskater in Norway and Sverre ended up second after Håvard Bøkko. This tells us that the choice they made then was a good one!

The choice they made also means that they have to  pay for their coaches, travelling, training camps etc... themselves, so when the national team was allowed some well needed rest, Maren and Sverre had to spend their time raising money to pay for their expenses....this is where "Kupper'n"'s quote falls apart..."Time to train, and to afford to rest"...

So,...TEAM HAUGLI will now take action and start fundraising, and by that give these two athletes the possibility to give us even more fun and joy at the events the coming Olympic season!
